The scenic Hebride Islands are situated off the west coast of Scotland. They are divided into two groups: the Inner and Outer Hebrides. One of the largest of the Inner Hebrides is Mull, marked by rolling green hills and charming historic towns. The largest of the towns is the capital of Tobermory, with a population of less than 1,000. It is most famous for the shipwreck of the Florencia, part of the Spanish Armada, which lies in the bay waters. All around this area are many historic castles, and just off the southwest coast is Iona Island. Here lies a monastery founded by St. Columba during the 6th century and a cemetery where more than 60 kings have been buried, including Shakespeare’s infamous Macbeth.
